December update and Xmas Meal

Hello Ladies,
For those of you who are attending the Christmas Party please note that a ‘home – made hat competition’ will be judged by the evening’s entertainer, with a prize kindly
donated by Keith, Landlord of the Cottage Pub, Fillongley. With all the talent we have, I am sure there will be some spectacular entries!
Just to remind you that it is this Wednesday at Fillongley Social Club, 7.30pm, with the meal being served at 8pm. For those of you who are paying on the night, please bring
your £12.50 in an envelope marked with your name on and hand it to our Treasurer, Jenni. Anyone wanting a receipt may obtain this from Jenni also.
Unfortunately I will miss the meal as I am attending an Awards Ceremony for long service as a School Governor, disappointed that these two events fall on the same night
I will do my best to join you later – in the meantime, have a great evening.
The Federation have asked me to remind members to complete the questionnaire regarding Denman College and the Resolution voting form that are in the November/December
WI Life Magazine.
Thank you to all those who decorated the salt dough shapes to hang on the Christmas Tree and to Karen who provided the tree, cones and lights and put it up in Church with Olivia.
I forgot to thank Sarah at the meeting for laying the Remembrance Sunday Wreath on our behalf and another thank you to Sarah as we have now heard back from Federation regarding
our Big Walk/Little Splash entry. Suffice to say Sarah put together an excellent journal of member’s achievements and we successfully completed the Challenge. Although our entry didn’t
win, I hope that you all agree that this is something to be proud of. A big thank you to all those who took part.

April Meeting - Wednesday 18th at 7.30pm

Hello Ladies,

Spring is in the air! Feel free to bring family and friends to the meeting (ladies of course). A visitor fee applies which helps to pay for the room hire and refreshments.

The meeting this month is tomorrow, Wednesday 18th April at 7.30pm.

The demo this month is by Tracie Turnbull from Ben N Zaks florist based in Coventry Retail Market.
The business has been in Tracie's family for 50 years and she is passionate about supporting local business where possible. She is also passionate that crafts are kept alive so will be demonstrating various floral techniques, all of which we can use at home.

Tracie is happy to help with any queries you have about flowers, she has a wealth of knowledge so don't be shy. If you want to know anything just ask Tracie during the evening.

Many thanks and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow night.

Coffee Morning

We had a very successful coffee morning last month, which was well attended. We had a fabulous selection of homemade cakes, biscuits and preserves and we made over £100 for our funds. Thank you to everyone who helped, attended and a special thank you to all those who donated their wares. We had some impressive comments from our customers, one lady bought a cake and her husband insisted she buy another two - so well done!

Garden Bulbs

In this month's mail we have received the WI Bulb Scheme booklets.

This company have been supplying the WI with garden bulbs for over 40 years. The order has to be with our secretary by mid June, so feel free to borrow a booklet and pass it on to other members, friends and family.

2013 Diary

We have the order form for the 2013 WI Diary. If you wish to order one please make a cheque payable to Fillongley Lite WI or cash in an envelope with your name and telephone number on.
£3.55 each diary.

The diaries are laid out in a one week to view format and have a pink cover with a silver ribbon effect.

It seems early but perhaps this would make a handy small Christmas gift for family members.

The order has to be placed by us by mid July.

Singing for Joy

To mark the WI Centenary all WI's are being encouraged to form a choir or singing group.
Assistance will be given by the Federation through information and singing workshops.

There is a competition and each Federation can submit up to three choirs or singing groups to go forward to six regional finals.

This is a long term commitment as, if successful and by some miracle won this competition we would be performing at the AGM on June 3rd in 2015

There will be a leaflet on the table with all the information.

Skittles Evening

We have been invited to attend the St Nicholas Park WI Skittles Evening on June 14th. Tickets are £6 including a fish supper, or chicken and chips.

We need to know this week so please bring payment on Wednesday with a note of which meal you would like, again it would be helpful if you could put payment in an envelope marked skittles evening, with your name and telephone number on it.
