Saltisford Canal Fun Weekend

The Saltisford Canal Trust

Budbrooke Road

Warwick

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE USE
Meet an Alpaca at the Canal Fun Weekend in Warwick!

The Saltisford Canal Trust is again taking part in the Heritage Open Days weekend in September.

This year we are planning a weekend of free, fun packed, special canal heritage events

on Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th September, from 10-00 am to 5 pm , at our canal side gardens in the centre of Warwick.

Inside our craft marquee, over the weekend, will be handmade gifts and a cake stall. Outside will be short boat trips

aboard Saltie 2, a historic steam narrowboat, model boat displays, children's activities, folk music, and a chance to meet

a friendly baby Alpaca or some Pygmy Goats!

Visitors can explore the Saltisford waterside gardens trail, experience our new sensory garden, learn more about the

history of our local canals in our Visitor Centre, and soak up some waterway heritage. In smaller marquees will be a beer

tent, live folk music, children’s activities, tombola, information on the Trust and displays by other local canal societies.

Come and join us this September for a celebration of our wonderful local canal heritage.

Most activities are FREE– some by donation.
The Saltisford Canal Centre is a short walk from Warwick Town Centre; the G1 bus stops outside on the Birmingham

Road. There is very limited car parking, but you may be able to park on adjacent Budbrooke Industrial Estate.

The Saltisford Canal Trust- a registered charity- was set up to restore the canal arm and to promote the use of the canal in

Warwick. It does this by having a day hire boat, waterside gardens open free to the public, provides moorings for both

visitor boats- over 800 in 2012- and long term moored Narrowboats, and provides a wide range of services including a

canal Visitor Centre, laundrette, gift shop, drinking water, electrical hook up, sewage pump-out, rubbish disposal; and

promotes knowledge of the historic significance of the canal on Warwick’s development.
